This project is being undertaken with the collaboration of Azzopardi Fisheries who has provided the main ingredients for this project to become a reality.   Tony & Charles Azzopardi have entrusted the running operations of Marine Adventure Park to Emi Farrugia -  Project's Manager.

An Active Personality in the Diving Community

 

·         33 years diving experience (1975)  - BSAC Advance Diver & Instructor

·         25 years as BSAC Diving Instructor (1983)

·         15 years of Extensive Wreck Hunting & Wreck Diving Experience (1993)

·         12 years as a Wreck Technical Diver & Advance Trimix User (1996) ANDI & TDI

·         3 years Commercial Diver – Comex Registered (1980 – 1883)

·         10 years as Executive Producer & script writer of underwater documentary programs for  Maltese TV stations TVM  & ONE TV   - The DINJA OHRA series of programmes were all awarded the Malta Broadcasting Authority Awards for the best Documentaries for 1999, 2001, 2003

·         Produced the last series of Dinja Ohra IV – April/May 2006

·         Co- Producer for Discovery Channel & National Geography programmes - Oceans of Mystery (1999) & Sea Hunters (2002)

·         Wreck placing applicant & project co-ordinator for the Tanac Tugs Project in Marsascala Bay (1998)

·         The Imperial Eagle project off Qawra Point being the  applicant & project co-ordinator (1999)

·         Consultant member for the Malta Drydocks on the Um El Faroud project and executed the final position exercise for this wreck (1998)

·         Was responsible to locate, document & film for the first time ever various war time wrecks found close to the shores of Malta and helped to make these wrecks a possible diving attraction for the experienced divers who are prepared to dive deeper than the recommended dive depths.

·         The Wrecks being:-

-          HMS Stubborn ( 56 meters deep)  first discovered on 24 July 1994

-          HMS Eddy  (56 meters deep) first discovered on 26 October 1995

-          HMS St Angelo ( 54 meters deep) first discovered on 23 August 1998

-          Hellespont ( 42 meters deep) first discovered on 15 May 1999

-          Cable ship – Unknown – ( 58 meters deep) first discovered on

       7 August 1999

-          Schnell boat S31 (68 meters deep) first discovered on 6 September 2000

-          MV Luciston  ( 104 meters deep) first discovered in July 2003

-          HMS Russell ( 115 meters deep) first identified in July 2003

 

Recently located the possible position of the wreck of Nosturtuim ( 135 meters deep)

  • Was involved on various filming surveys of the seabed in connection with fish farm applications and for their monitoring, carrying out all the underwater filming surveys taken underneath all Tuna Penning cages

  • Was engaged by MEPA to co-produce for them their documentary on the MPA of Ras il- Majjiesa & Ras ir-Raheb (2004 – 2005)

  • Appointed by MEPA to conduct the Diver’s Risk Assessment Survey on MV Xlendi  - May 2006

  • Produced for the Ministry for Gozo the underwater documentary – Gozo the Hidden Gem of the Mediterranean

  • Pioneer member to set up the Malta Marine Foundation  (MMF) especially worked for the acquisition of both the P29 & the P31 Patrol Boats which were eventually taken over by Malta Tourism Authority  in collaboration with the MMF

  • Exec producer for the current weekly TVM program  ‘X’ Qala’ l-Bahar’ this being  a ‘Where’s Everybody?’  Production. Programme is currently running.

  • ‘Marine Adventure Park’  Managing director  which opened it’s doors for the first time on 1st May 2008
